Book a Consultation
At London Skin Clinic, most settled cysts can be assessed and removed in a single same-day visit on
Harley Street, under local anaesthetic, by a consultant surgeon. Our “see and treat” service means you don’t wait weeks
or come back for a separate operation. The initial consultation is £100 and straightforward cyst
removal is £400 (additional cysts £250 each).
How Same-Day Removal Works
You’re seen by a consultant who confirms the lump is a cyst, discusses the plan and cost, then — if it’s suitable —
numbs the area and removes the whole cyst sac there and then. The excision usually takes 20–45 minutes, you go home the
same day, and non-dissolvable sutures come out at one to two weeks. Because the entire wall is removed, recurrence is
uncommon, unlike simple drainage.
The One Exception: Infected Cysts
A cyst that is actively infected usually isn’t removed the same day, because operating on inflamed tissue makes a clean,
complete excision harder and recurrence more likely. Instead we settle the infection first — sometimes with antibiotics —
and book removal once it has calmed. The signs of infection are covered in our guide to
when an infected cyst is an emergency.
Booking and What It Costs
Same-day “see and treat” is available for the majority of conditions at our Harley Street clinic. For full details see
our sebaceous cyst removal guide and the
cyst removal page, or

Your questions, answered
- Can I really have a cyst removed the same day?
- Yes — for most settled cysts, assessment and removal happen in one visit under local anaesthetic. The main exception is an actively infected cyst, which is settled first and removed once the inflammation has resolved for a cleaner result.
- How much does same-day cyst removal cost?
- The initial consultation is £100 and straightforward cyst removal is £400, with each additional cyst removed in the same visit £250. The quote is transparent, with no hidden extras, and confirmed before any procedure goes ahead.
- Will I need to come back?
- Usually only once, to have non-dissolvable sutures removed at one to two weeks. Some closures use dissolvable stitches that don’t need removing. You’ll get clear aftercare instructions and a point of contact for any concerns.
- Is same-day removal safe?
- Yes, when performed by a consultant surgeon on a suitable, settled cyst. The benefit of same-day care is speed without compromising technique — the full sac is excised and the wound closed to minimise scarring, just as in a planned procedure.
