Chalazion Removal, in Brief
A chalazion is a firm, usually painless lump from a blocked oil gland in the eyelid. Many settle with
warm compresses over a few weeks; a persistent one is removed with a quick procedure. The eyelid is
numbed with anaesthetic drops and a small injection, and the incision is usually made on the inside of the
eyelid, so the blocked gland is cleared with no visible scar and no stitches. You go home the
